Homemade Taco Seasoning
A simple, versatile spice blend for chicken—perfect for grilling, roasting, or pan-searing. Adds flavor and a touch of smokiness to any cut.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 3 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- Cholula hot sauce (approx 15 shakes)
Instructions
- Combine all dry ingredients (chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, paprika, cumin, and salt) in a small bowl.
- Mix well until evenly combined.
- Brown 2 pounds of ground meat (beef, turkey, or chicken) in a large skillet.
- Add the spice mixture to the cooked meat and stir to coat evenly.
- Add approximately 15 shakes of Cholula hot sauce (or to taste).
- Cook for 2-3 minutes more, stirring frequently, until fragrant and well combined.
Notes
This seasoning blend can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container for up to 6 months. Adjust the Cholula to your heat preference - start with less and add more as needed. Works great with ground beef, turkey, chicken, or even plant-based meat alternatives.
