Smoked Pulled Pork
Tender, flavorful pulled pork with a perfect bark and smoky flavor. Low and slow cooking method with a delicious dry rub that creates an amazing crust.
Ingredients
- 1 pork shoulder/butt (5-7 lbs)
- Yellow mustard (for coating)
- Apple juice (for braising)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (for finishing)
Other Materials
Dry Rub
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ground paprika
- 3 tablespoons salt
- 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons ground mustard powde
Instructions
- Trim any excess fat from the pork shoulder/butt
- Coat the pork shoulder/butt with mustard
- Apply the rub all over the shoulder
- Set the smoker to 275°F
- Lay the shoulder directly on the smoker grill
- When the internal temp reaches 165°F, place the shoulder in a foil pan
- Cut the butter into pieces and add it to the shoulder
- Pour the apple juice on the shoulder
- Cover the entire pork shoulder with the aluminum foil
- Let it sit until internal temp reaches 205°F
- Let it rest for 5-10 mins and then pull apart
